At our clinic, we provide the greatest POEM care. To address incorrect swallowing caused by muscular issues such esophageal spasms, a procedure known as peroral endoscopic myotomy is carried out. In POEM, the esophageal muscles are severed (a myotomy) using an endoscope, a little, flexible tube with a camera that is inserted into the mouth (peroral). By cutting the muscles, a swallowing blockage is avoided because the muscles cannot contract. Due to the lack of a skin incision, POEM is not classified as surgery. It is a less intrusive procedure than Heller myotomy, which enters the oesophagus through the mouth. Endoscopic operations are often less painful and recover more quickly than open surgery.
